The run is unfenced on the creek side, so it is best for dogs with solid recall — but that creek is exactly why regulars love it in summer. Dirt and wood chip footing under mature hardwoods, with the Four Mile Run Trail and Long Branch Nature Center steps away. Parking is limited, so weekday mornings are the easy window.

The signature feature is a canine wading pool fed by a rock waterfall that runs on harvested rainwater, so dogs cool off without a creek. Fully fenced with stone dust and paver surfaces, lights until 9 p.m., and a steady after-work crowd from the surrounding apartment towers. One combined dog area rather than a separate small-dog side, street parking or a nearby garage, and closed for maintenance Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings from 10 a.m. to noon.

Opened in 2009, it has separate runs for small and large dogs, double-gated entries, and a mix of grass and gravel footing that drains better than most city parks after rain. Benches and shade along the fence line make it an easy weekday-evening stop, and the surrounding Carlyle blocks are full of restaurants and coffee for an after-park walk.
