The Field Guide
The Grove Dog Park is a newer fenced off-leash park in Rockville, at Medical Center Drive and Dalmatian Street near the King Farm and Shady Grove area. It is split into two separate runs — one for large dogs and one for small dogs — with a double-gated entry between them, so nervous or under-25-pound dogs can play without the big-dog roughhousing and there is a safe airlock for leashing up. Because it is relatively new, the fencing, gates and benches are in good shape and the surface drains reasonably well, earning it about a 2 out of 5 on the community mud scale — firmer than most natural-surface runs after rain. Benches sit inside both sides of the fence, and parking is available nearby off Medical Center Drive. There is no dog fountain on site, so bring water and a bowl. It tends to be quieter than the larger Montgomery County parks like Wheaton Regional or Olney Manor, which makes it a good pick for shy dogs, recall practice, or a weekday visit close to the Shady Grove medical campus.
Locals' Guide
The Grove Dog Park is an off-leash dog park in Rockville, MD (Montgomery County). Community mud reports rate it 2/5, and regulars point to fully fenced and small dog area as what keeps them coming back. The park sits inside Maryland's network of off-leash spots.
Weekday mornings before 9am and after 6pm on weekdays are the calmest windows. Saturday mornings between 9–11am are the busiest — expect a full parking lot and 20+ dogs. If your pup is on the reactive side or still learning play cues, aim for weekday visits or Sunday evenings.
