1. Acceptance of Terms
By using dmvpaws.org ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms and our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. Eligibility and Accounts
You must be at least 13 years old to create an account, and under 18 only with a parent or guardian's permission. You must confirm your age when you sign up. You are responsible for your account, keeping your password safe, and providing accurate information.
The Service is intended for users in the United States. We may limit, pause, or rate-limit features (such as sign-ups, uploads, or reviews) to protect the Service from abuse.
3. Your Content
Reviews, photos, ratings, reports, dog profiles, and suggestions you submit ("User Content") stay yours. You give DMV Paws & Parks a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free license to host, display, adapt (for example, resize photos), and share that content to operate and promote the Service. You confirm you own or have permission to post it.
Photos: Only upload photos you took yourself or own the rights to. Do not upload images copied from other websites, stock libraries, social media, or other people. You must confirm ownership each time you upload.
We may review, moderate, or remove content at our discretion, including through automated checks.
4. Community Rules
- No abusive, hateful, harassing, defamatory, sexual, or illegal content.
- No photos of identifiable strangers or children without consent.
- No fake reviews, spam, advertising, or impersonation.
- No scraping, hacking, or interfering with the Service.
Report problems to hello@dmvpaws.org or with the "Report an issue" option on park pages.
5. Park Information and Safety
Park details, hours, permits, and conditions change and may be submitted by the community. Always follow posted rules, leash laws, and local permit and vaccination requirements, and supervise your dog. Visiting any park or meetup is at your own risk. We are not responsible for injuries, dog bites, property damage, or disputes between users.
6. Copyright Complaints (DMCA)
If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice to hello@dmvpaws.org with: your contact information; a description of the work; the link to the material; a statement that you believe in good faith the use is not authorized; a statement, under penalty of perjury, that your notice is accurate and you are the owner or authorized to act; and your physical or electronic signature. Users may send a counter-notice with the same details. We remove content for repeat infringers.
7. Emails
If you opt in to our newsletter or alerts, you can unsubscribe anytime using the link in any email.
8. Third-Party Services
The Service uses Google Maps and other third-party services governed by their own terms. Links to other sites are for convenience; we are not responsible for their content.
9. Intellectual Property
The DMV Paws & Parks name, logo, design, and original content belong to us and may not be copied without permission.
10. Disclaimers
The Service is provided "as is" and "as available," without warranties of any kind, including accuracy, availability, or fitness for a particular purpose.
11. Limitation of Liability
To the fullest extent allowed by law, DMV Paws & Parks is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages, and our total liability for any claim is limited to $100.
12. Indemnity
You agree to cover claims and costs arising from your content, your use of the Service, or your violation of these Terms.
13. Termination
We may suspend or end accounts that break these Terms. You can delete your account anytime by emailing hello@dmvpaws.org.
14. Disputes and Governing Law
Please contact us first so we can try to resolve any issue informally within 30 days. These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Virginia, and any dispute will be handled in the state or federal courts located in Virginia, unless your local law requires otherwise.
15. Changes
We may update these Terms. We will change the "Last updated" date, and continued use means you accept the new Terms.
